The Kew Palace is the smallest and most intimate of the royal palaces with a distinctly Dutch look. George III purchased the Palace in 1781 as an annex to the White House to accommodate his expanding family. In 1818 Queen Charlotte died there. New for 2012 is the opening of the Royal Kitchens.

London’s Royal Academy of the Arts presents A Bigger Picture, an exhibit of landscapes from the renowned British artist David Hockney. There will be new paintings inspired by Yorkshire landscape. Plus there will be older landscape works as well as film and drawings.

Scott’s Last Expedition Exhibit explores the fascinating story of Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s last expedition to Antarctica in 1910-1913, the Terra Nova, in a groundbreaking exhibition. These specimens showcased are appearing for the first time, alongside a life-sized representation of Scott’s huts.
