Prince William and Kate Middleton: The Dress, the Cake, the Secrets
As the wedding day gets closer, everyone's wondering what Prince William and Kate Middleton are planning. Learn the secret details behind the big day.
With Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding less than a month away, every detail is being finalized and prepped to perfection. The couple has chosen their cake and Kate has hinted who her wedding-dress designer is. Yet, many are still wondering what the big day will really be like. You might be surprised to learn that the Royal Wedding is a national holiday and that people throughout the entire country will be tuning in. If you love festivities, food, and fashion, you'll enjoy reading the details of their big wedding day.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are trying to keep the wedding details secret. Though rumors are still circulating about Kate Middleton's dress, Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen is most likely designing it. The dress designer is to be kept a secret but all fingers point towards Sarah Burton who took over as top designer of the house of Alexander McQueen after McQueen's tragic and unexpected suicide last year. Alexander McQueen styles tend to be quite fashion forward. Flashy stars like Kate Moss and Lady Gaga often wear his pieces. For Kate Middleton, the house of Alexander McQueen will most likely create a mix of modern fashion and Kate's unique style. We can expect to see a stunning dress with royal modesty. It's also possible that Kate will have a backup dress, as Diana did, just in case something happens to the first.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have already chosen their cakes. The main one will be a traditional fruit cake with sugar flowers. Kate is quite interested in florigraphy, the language of flowers, which was used in the Victorian era to communicate emotions that could not be discussed. There will be many varieties of sugar flora, including roses (for England), daffodils (for Wales), shamrocks (for Ireland) and thistles (for Scotland). Prince William has decided to have a groom's cake which isn't customary for British weddings. He has chosen a cookie cake covered in chocolate.
Since Kate loves flowers and florigraphy, we can expect that her bouquet will also be quite intricate. Her favorite flower is the white lily, a symbol of purity. She may also have white daisies in her bouquet as a symbol of wales, her prince and his ascension to the throne. My guess is that the bouquet will be gorgeous but not too over the top. Kate is pretty modest. Her bouquet will most-likely look more like Queen Elizabeth's II than Princess Diana's.
As for the other secret details of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, we may just have to wait until April 29th when they reveal the secrets and months of planning.
In the off chance you weren't invited to the wedding, you can still grab a London hotel and experience some of the celebration occurring around the big event.
