What a 2 Star Rating Means in London
When it comes to hotels in London, there are ratings to help visitors and experts rank where these hotels stand. The rating system is on a scale of 1-5, with one being the lowest and five being the highest. These ratings not only give visitors an idea of what to expect when it comes to the hotel they are choosing, but it also gives a method when it comes to pricing the particular hotel rooms. A two star hotel may be more expensive in London than somewhere else, due in large part to location.
Ratings and standards
There are different criteria that have to be met in order to achieve a two star rating in London and anywhere else in the world. A two star hotel in London means it is relatively inexpensive compared to other hotels in the area. It also means there are not a lot of amenities to the hotel. When it comes to minimum criteria, a two star hotel offers basic room options along with a color television, an in house bar, and a restaurant. The standards to meet a two star hotel are very low and the only thing that separates it from a one star hotel is a color television and a bar or restaurant. A three star hotel on the other hand has everything a two star hotel has along with a gym or other types of business facilities.
From there there the stars will go up according to a few key requirements. The size of a hotel room has nothing to do with the number of stars it gets in London. The star rating comes strictly from meeting the selected criteria. While there are a number of different services that rate the hotels, there are standards that must be followed, but the rankings may vary from one service or group to another. The minimum criteria must be met however to guarantee a two star rating.
Hotels and services
There are numerous two star hotels that can be found throughout downtown London. These two star hotels are certainly more expensive than two star hotels in other places all over the world, because of the location, but they still meet the minimum criteria to be considered. Among the two star hotels is Ibis London Wembley. Like the other two star hotels, it has a color television, a restaurant, and a bar serving snacks 24 hours a day. All of these criteria are necessary to qualify as a two star hotel.
Another of the many two star hotels in London is Hotel Lily. Located near Kensington and Earl Courts, this hotel is perfect for those on a small budget. It has a bathroom in the suite, which is necessary to be considered a two star. It also has a lounge bar with a place for guests to relax and enjoy a drink. An added bonus is the continental breakfast offered in the morning.
One more of the two star hotels is Kensington West Hotel. LIke Hotel Lily, it is located in Kensington with easy access to both Kensington and Earl Courts. All of the rooms have flat screen televisions and hot beverages at the reception area. While the hot beverages may not be a bar or restaurant, it is enough for Kensington West Hotel to get two stars for its rating.
All of these hotels meet the criteria to be considered two stars, but do not have enough to be considered three star hotels. These ratings can change as many of them are rated every year.
