“This is the best food in Shoreditch, bar none,” proclaimed a regular proudly as I photographed the lunch he was collecting at Ruby’s. If I worked in Shoreditch I bet I would come to eat Leno’s accomplished Italian cooking every day, too. If you want to eat on premises (worth it, as the banter flows like the coffee) be patient as there are only two tables and one counter on which to perch. I may not yet be a regular but I can already autopilot to Ruby’s without even realising where my feet are leading me. “Oh, look where I am,” I think, “and hungry too! What luck.”
