The alchemy of the printing process is my favourite part of photography, albeit one that I don’t get to do often enough. Photographers of my acquaintance with darkrooms, rather than laptops and software, are always bemoaning the loss of a favourite paper, or a much loved thingumajig, integral to the dark art of the printing process. They do all rave about Silverprint, however, as the one place you are sure to find these items, if still manufactured, and used to print photographic images. I think this is a classic case of use it or lose it. Now, where’s my film camera?
